
Former British Columbia Lions running back Sean Millington of Vancouver, British Columbia will be inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in Hamilton, Ontario according to the Canadian Press on Friday. Millington played 14 seasons in the CFL from 1991 to 2005. He was with the Lions for two stints (first stint for seven seasons from 1991 to 1997, and the second stint for three seasons from 2000 to 2002), two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1998 and 1999), and one season each with the Edmonton Eskimos (1999) and with the Toronto Argonauts (2005).
Millington played 194 CFL games. He had 1129 rushes for 6086 rushing yards and 75 rushing touchdowns. Millington also had 312 catches for 3236 receiving yards and 11 touchdown catches.
Throughout Millington’s career, he had several accomplishments. They included winning two Grey Cups (1994 and 2000) with the Lions, being honoured with the top Canadian Award in the CFL twice (1997 and 2000), and being named the top Canadian of the 2000 Grey Cup.
Millington also holds the Lions and Eskimos records for most rushing yards in a game. He had 212 rushing yards for the Lions on August 15, 1997 in a 39-26 Lions win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Millington then had 225 rushing yards for the Eskimos on October 30, 1999 in a 34-21 Eskimos win over the Roughriders.
At the university level, Millington played for Simon Fraser University. He was the first overall pick in the 1990 CFL Draft. Millington was selected by the Lions. In 2010, Millington was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
