After the first four games, Team Canada is now at three wins and one loss at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing in mixed doubles curling. On Thursday, Canada defeated Switzerland 7-5, and then China 8-4. With the victories, Team Canada is in a second place tie with Great Britain at three wins and one loss. There is a surprise first place leader at this time as it is Italy at four wins and zero losses.

In the Canadian win over Switzerland, it was a fantastic start for Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario, and John Morris of Winnipeg, Manitoba. That is because they stole three points in the first end en route to the win. Then in the win over China, the key end was the third end where Team Canada stole two points for a 4-1 lead at the time. It should be noted that Canada won both games without using their power play. On Friday evening, Canada plays Sweden at 11 p.m. MT, and then on Saturday morning at 5 a.m. MT, they play the United States.

Meanwhile at the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Kerry Galusha of the Northwest Territories will play Mackenzie Zacharias of Manitoba in a Pool B tiebreaker on Friday morning. The winner will play New Brunswick’s Andrea Crawford. The other Championship Pool semifinal has Nova Scotia versus Northern Ontario. The winners of the semifinals will play Team Canada, and the number one wildcard team skipped by Tracy Fleury.
