
Cam Talbot of Caledonia, Ontario recorded his 28th career National Hockey League shutout and first with the Ottawa Senators on Monday. He made 32 saves as the Senators blanked the Anaheim Ducks 3-0 from the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. Talbot made five saves in the first period, 12 saves in the second period, and 15 saves in the third period. Frank Vatrano led the Ducks with seven shots on goal.
Of Talbot’s 28 career shutouts, 15 have been with Canadian teams. Twelve have been with the Edmonton Oilers and two have been with the Calgary Flames, in addition to the one with the Senators.
On the season, Talbot now has a record of six wins and seven regulation losses. He has a goals against average of 2.55 and a save percentage of .917.
From an offensive standpoint, Parker Kelly of Camrose, Alberta scored the game-winning goal from Nikita Zaitsev at 5:42 of the first period to put the Senators up 1-0. It was also a strong offensive performance for Claude Giroux of Hearst, Ontario who had two assists on two goals by Alex DeBrincat.
With the win, the Senators have now won two straight games. They also beat the Nashville Predators 3-2 on Saturday during the streak. Ottawa now improves to a record of 12 wins, 14 regulation losses and two losses in extra time for 26 points.
