Jordan Binnington of Richmond Hill, Ontario recorded his 12th career National Hockey League shutout on Monday. The 29-year-old netminder for the St. Louis Blues made 25 saves as the Blues blanked the Nashville Predators 1-0 in overtime from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Binnington made seven saves in the first period, nine saves in the second period, eight saves in the third period, and one save in overtime. Roman Josi, the 2020 Norris Trophy winner, led the Predators with four shots on goal.
BInnington improved to a record of 10 wins, 11 regulation losses, and one loss in extra time in 2022-23. He has a goals against average of 3.23 and a save percentage of .894. This was Binnington’s second shutout of the season. His first was in a 2-0 Blues win over the Edmonton Oilers on October 22. That was a rare Saturday afternoon game at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
From an offensive standpoint on Monday, Brayden Schenn of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan scored the lone goal of the game at 2:23 of the extra period. Jordan Kyrou of Toronto, Ontario picked up the primary assist.
With the win, the Blues improved to a record of 13 wins, 15 regulation losses, and one loss in extra time for 27 points. They are four points back of the Calgary Flames for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
