The Boston Bruins may not have their star goaltender Tuukka Rask for the remainder of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the Bruins still looked like a formidable playoff team on Saturday when they beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario. Brad Marchand of Halifax, Nova Scotia had one goal and one assist for two points as the Bruins took a two games to one series lead in game three of their first round Eastern Conference playoff series.
Marchand picked up a power play assist on a goal by Charlie Coyle at the 14 second mark of the second period to open the scoring. He then scored an insurance marker into an empty net with 31 seconds left in the game to Boston up 3-1.
Marchand was one of three Canadian hockey players to have a multi-point game on a winning team on Saturday in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In Edmonton, Taylor Hall of Calgary, Alberta, and Jason Demers of Dorval, Quebec each had two points in a 4-2 Arizona Coyotes win over the Colorado Avalanche. Hall had the game winning goal early in the third period and a first period assist on a goal by Derek Stepan. Demers had assists on Coyotes goals by Brad Richardson of Belleville, Ontario, and Lawson Crouse of Mount Brydges, Ontario. With the win, the Coyotes won their first game of the series, but still trail the Avalanche two games to one.
