The St. Louis Blues traded Robby Fabbri of Mississauga, Ontario to the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday for Jacob de la Rose. A centre, Fabbri has played the last four seasons with the Blues and won a Stanley Cup with St. Louis in 2019.
Fabbri was the Blues first round draft pick, 21st overall, in the 2014 National Hockey League Entry Draft. So far this season he has one goal for one point in nine games. He is a -4 with two penalty minutes, seven shots on goal, one faceoff win, one blocked shot, 10 hits and one takeaway.
Fabbri’s goal for the Blues in 2019-20 came in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks on October 17. Fabbri opened the scoring from Tyler Bozak of Regina, Saskatchewan and Alex Steen of Winnipeg, Manitoba at 14:25 of the first period.
One of the reasons why Fabbri could have been expendable this season was his poor plus/minus when you consider how strong the Blues are. St. Louis has the best record in the Central Division at 11 wins, three regulation losses and three losses in extra time for 25 points.
Fabbri also scored for the Blues in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. His goal came in game one of the second round against the Dallas Stars, a 3-2 Blues win. Fabbri opened the scoring in the game at 5:57 of the first period from Colton Parayko of St. Albert, Alberta and Ivan Barbashev.
de la Rose meanwhile has one goal and three assists for four points in 16 games with the Red Wings in 2019-20. A center from Arvika, Sweden, de la Rose is now joining his third NHL team, as he began his NHL career playing four seasons with the Montreal Canadiens.
