Blue Jays sweep the White Sox for eighth win in a row

The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 8-3 on Thursday for their eighth win in a row. During this remarkable streak, the Blue Jays have swept the Los Angeles Angels and Chicago White Sox, and also beaten the St. Louis Cardinals.

On Thursday, the Blue Jays got a quality start from starting pitcher Alek Manoah, who gave up three earned runs in 7 2/3 innings. The 24-year-old right hander has an excellent earned run average of 1.98. Offensively, the Blue Jays got two extra base hits from Teoscar Hernandez (double and a home run). As a team, the Blue Jays had six doubles, with Santiago Espinal leading the team with three hits from the leadoff position.

In the first two wins of the series, the Blue Jays beat the White Sox 6-5 on Tuesday and then beat the White Sox 7-3 on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Alejandro Kirk hit two two-run home runs. Then on Wednesday, the Blue Jays got home runs from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec, Espinal and Danny Jansen.

Toronto now improves to a record of 30 wins and 20 losses. They have the third best record in the American League. The only two teams with a better record are the New York Yankees at 36 wins and 15 losses, and the Houston Astros at 33 wins and 18 losses.
