
The Toronto Blue Jays delivered their second sweep of the season according to Dan Schulman of Rogers Sportsnet on Thursday. The Blue Jays won all three games against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. With the series sweep, the Blue Jays improve to a record of 37 wins and 38 losses.
Despite being one game game below the .500 mark, the Blue Jays are in playoff contention in the mediocre American League. They are in a playoff spot and hold down the final wildcard position. Toronto has the same record as the Athletics, but get the sixth spot because they swept the Athletics at the beginning of the season for their only other sweep in 2026.
Toronto’s win on Tuesday was by a score of 6-1. On the moud, Dylan Cease threw five shutout innings for his fourth win of the year, and Louis Varland had the save. The Blue Jays had home runs from Davis Schneider, Andres Gimenez and George Springer. For Springer, it was his 300th career MLB home run.
Toronto’s win on Wednesday was by a score of 3-0. Simeon Woods Richardson recorded his first win of the season and first win as a Blue Jay. Mason Fluharty, Spencer Miles, Jeff Hoffman and Tyler Rogers recorded a hold and Varland had a save. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec and Gimenez had two hits each.
The Blue Jays’s Thursday win was by a score of 4-3. Catcher Brandon Valenzuela had the game winning RBI in the top of the ninth inning with a double to left field which scored Ernie Clement. Valenzuela’s double broke a 3-3 tie. Guerrero Jr. and Nathan Lukes each hit a home run. Trey Yesavage had a quality start, Tommy Nance had his first win of the season in relief, and Fluharty had his first save of the season.
