Andrew De Grasse wins men’s 100m at 2022 Bislett Games

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Andre De Grasse of Scarborough, Ontario won the gold medal on Thursday at the 2022 Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway. De Grasse might not have posted the fastest time of his career, but did post a time of 10.05 seconds to place first.

Reece Prescod of Great Britain won the silver medal with a time of 10.06 seconds. Akani Simbine of South Africa won the bronze medal with a time of 10.09 seconds. De Grasse reached the podium by a tenth of a second over Benjamin Azamati of Ghana, who had a time of 10.15 seconds.

De Grasse won his Olympic gold medal in the men’s 200 metres art the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. He has also won the bronze medal in the men’s 100 metres at the last two Olympic Games. He had times of 9.91 seconds at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and then a personal best time of 9.89 seconds at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 five years later.

This was De Grasse’s fastest time of 2022 in the men’s 100 metres. His fastest time prior to today in 2022 was 10.07 seconds at the University of North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville on April 30. With the win, De Grasse moves into second place in the 2022 Diamond League standings in the men’s 100 metres with 13 points. He is two points back of Fred Kerley of the United States, who leads with 15 points.
