Tyler Toffoli leads Canucks in a second round playoff win

After game one of the second round playoff series, it appeared the Vegas Golden Knights would have zero problems whatsoever with the Vancouver Canucks in the Western Conference semifinals. Vegas dominated Vancouver in all assets of the contest, and won convincingly by a score of 5-0.

However, in game two at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta on Tuesday, it was the Canucks that came out flying. Tyler Toffoli of Scarborough, Ontario opened the scoring at 1:29 of the first period. Toffoli found an open space in front of the net, and was able to score a goal with extreme ease. Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes picked up the assists.

For Toffoli, it was his first of three points for the Canucks on Tuesday. He had one goal and two assists overall. Toffoli was one of four Canucks to have a multi-point game, and one of two Canadians to accomplish the feat. Bo Horvat of London, Ontario scored twice. Meanwhile, Elias Pettersson had one goal and two assists for three points, and Alexander Edler had two assists. Tanner Pearson of Kitchener, Ontario also scored for the Canucks. With the win, Vancouver and Vegas are now tied at a game apiece.

The Canucks are the only Canadian team left in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2020. In fact, the Canuvcks were the last Canadian team to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. In 2011, Vancouver lost in seven games to the Boston Bruins.
