
Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ontario is in contention after round two at the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open. Pendrith is currently tied for second place at -10, and one stroke back of the leader, American Scottie Scheffler, who is at -11. Scheffler is a two-time Masters champion in 2022 and 2024, and current world number one.
Pendrith posted back-to-back rounds of five-under-par 65. In the first round on Thursday, Pendrith had six birdies and one bogey. He birdied the third, fourth, eighth, 10th, 13th, and 17th holes, and bogeyed the 18th hole. In the second round on Friday, Pendrith once again had six birdies and one bogey. He birdied the second, fifth, seventh, eighth, 13th, and 16th holes, and bogeyed the first hole.
There is a three-way tie for second in Houston. The other two golfers at -10 are Australian Min Woo Lee and American Ryan Gerard. There is then a four-way tie for fifth place at -8 and three strokes back. There you can find Colombia’s Nico Echavarria, Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti, and Americans Trey Mullinax and Jackson Suber.
Pendrith, who is currently ranked 45th in the world, has had success in the state of Texas in the past. Last year, he won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson event in Dallas.
