
There was a blockbuster trade in the Professional Women’s Hockey League on Monday according to John Wawrow of the Associated Press. The Toronto Sceptres traded Canadian Olympic gold medalists Jocelyne Larocque of Ste. Anne, Manitoba and Victoria Bach of Milton, Ontario to the Ottawa Charge for Americans Hayley Scamurra and Savannah Harmon. This is considered the biggest deal in the history of the PWHL.
Larocque, a defenseman, won a gold medal for Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. She also teamed up with Bach to win a gold medal for Canada at the the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
In six games with the Sceptres this season, Larocque has two assists for two points in six games. She also has had seven shots on goal. The assists both came in Toronto losses to Minnesota and Montreal. Larocque had one goal while with Toronto. It came during the inaugural PWHL season. She scored from Rebecca Leslie of Ottawa, Ontario in a 4-3 Toronto win over Montreal on January 20.
Bach has one goal in six games this season for the Sceptres. She was a -2 with two penalty minutes, nine faceoff wins, and 10 shots on goal. The goal came in a Toronto loss to Minnesota with Larocque picking up the assist.
