
Ottawa Charge goaltender and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Emerance Maschmeyer of Bruderheim, Alberta has been named the Professional Women’s Hockey League First Star of the Week for the week from December 23 to 29, 2024. In one game on Sunday, Maschmeyer made 34 saves on 35 shot attempts in a 3-1 Charge victory over the New York Sirens at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The only Sirens player to beat Maschmeyer in the game was Canadian Olympic gold medalist Sarah Fillier of Georgetown, Ontario. The first overall pick in the 2024 PWHL Draft scored at the 23 second mark of the third period. Meanwhile, the Charge were led in scoring by Canadian Olympic gold medalist Emily Clark of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, who had one goal and one assist for two points. Maschmeyer, Fillier and Clark all won a gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
In the 2024-25 PWHL season with the Charge, Maschmeyer has a record of two wins and two regulation losses, and one loss in a shootout. She has a goals against average of 2.20 and a save percentage of .929. With the win, the Charge improved to a record of two wins, three losses, and one loss in extra time for seven points. Ottawa is tied with the Toronto Sceptres for fourth place in the PWHL Standings. The Montreal Victoire lead the PWHL Standings with 13 points.
