Two teams unbeaten at Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials

Two days are now complete at the 2024-25 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. In Pool A, the team undefeated at four wins and zero losses is Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario and Brendan Bottcher of Edmonton, Alberta. In Pool B, the team undefeated at five wins and zero losses is Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta and Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

On Tuesday, Homan and Bottcher, as well as Peterman and Gallant won two games each. Homan and Bottcher beat Jessica Zheng and Victor Pietrangelo of Niagara Falls, Ontario 7-3 in the morning draw and then clobbered Laura Walker of Toronto, Ontario, and Kirk Muyres of St. Gregor, Saskatchewan 11-4. In the Homan and Bottcher win over Zheng and Pietrangelo, Homan and Bottcher dominated the second half of the match as they scored four straight points. In Homan and Bottcher’s win over Walker and Muyres, Homan and Bottcher got off to a great start as they scored four points with the hammer in the first and third ends to take an 8-2 lead.

Peterman and Gallant began Tuesday with a 7-6 extra end win over Melissa Adams of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, and Alex Robichaud of Fredericton. That was followed by a 6-3 win over Ottawa’s Lisa Weagle and Toronto, Ontario’s John Epping on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, Homan and Bottcher beat the father/daughter duo of Jim and Jaelynn Cotter of Vernon, British Columbia 8-1.
