Florida Panthers center Sam Reinhart of West Vancouver, British Columbia recorded hid sixth career National Hockey League hat trick on Thursday. Reinhart scored thrice as the Panthers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3.
Reinhart put the Panthers up 2-0 at 14:12 of the first period from Jonathan Huberdeau of Saint-Jerome, Quebec, and Aaron Ekblad of Windsor, Ontario. He then put the Panthers up 3-0 at 18:11 of the first period from Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov. Both of Reinhard’s first period goals were on the power play. Reinhart then notched his hat trick at 17:54 of the third period from Huberdeau and Ekblad into an empty net.
In 55 games this season, Reinhart has 22 goals and 35 assists for 57 points. He is a +24 with 13 penalty minutes, 17 power play points, three game-winning goals, two shorthanded points, 134 shots on goal, 127 faceoff wins, 22 blocked shots, 37 hits, 30 takeaways, and 29 giveaways.
This was Reinhard’s second hat trick this season. He also scored thrice in an 8-4 Panthers win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on January 31. Reinhart’s four other NHL hat tricks came with the Buffalo Sabres.
With the win, the Panthers improved to a record of 40 wins, 13 regulation losses, and five losses in extra time for 85 points. They have the third best record in the NHL. The only two teams ahead of them in the standings are the Colorado Avalanche and the Carolina Hurricanes.
