
Canada has won its 13th medal at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. On Tuesday, the Canadian diving duo of Rylan Wiens of Calgary, Alberta and Nathan Zsombor-Murray of Montreal, Quebec won the bronze medal in the men’s 10 metre synchronized platform diving event.
Wiens and Zsombor-Murray posted a score of 417.12 points. Junjie Lian and Hao Yang of China won the gold medal with a score of 467.79 points. Matty Lee and Noah Williams of Great Britain won the silver medal with a score of 427.71 points. Wiens and Zsombor-Murray reached the podium by 20.85 points. Kirill Boliukh and Oleksiy Sereda of Ukraine finished in fourth place with a score of 396.27 points.
This is the second significant international diving medal for Wiens in his career. He won the bronze medal in the men’s 10m platform at the 2021 World Cup Diving event in Tokyo.
For Zsombor-Murray, it was his third significant medal. He previously won the silver medal in the men’s 10 metre synchronized diving competition at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru and a bronze medal at the 2021 World Cup Diving event with Vincent Riendeau of Montreal, Quebec. The medal for Zsombor-Murray and Wiens will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
