Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard of Edmonton, Alberta recorded his 31st National Football League career touchdown on Sunday. He accomplished the feat in a 34-3 Panthers win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Hubbard opened the scoring with a three-yard touchdown pass from Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. The major score came four minutes and 12 seconds into the game.
In the game, Hubbard had 12 rushes for 53 rushing yards and two catches for 11 receiving yards and one touchdown catch. For the season, he has 22 rushes for 102 rushing yards and one touchdown run, along with five catches for 49 receiving yards and two touchdown catches. Hubbard had two touchdowns in week one of the NFL season, a 59-37 Panthers loss to the Chicago Bears.
Of Hubbard’s 31 NFL career touchdowns, he has 24 touchdown runs and seven touchdown catches. During 81 NFL games over six seasons, Hubbard has 911 rushes for 3788 rushing yards, along with 156 catches for 1021 receiving yards.
The Panthers are in a first place tie in the NFC South with the New Orleans Saints. Both teams are at one win and one loss. The Saints narrowly lost 31-30 to the Detroit Lions in overtime in week one, before surprising the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday by a score of 24-17. The Saints were an 8.5 point underdog.
