Five Canadians contribute to touchdowns for winning teams in Week 16 of 2026 CFL season

Week 16 is now complete and five Canadians scored touchdowns on winning teams. They were Montreal Alouettes defensive back Nate Beauchemin of Calgary, Alberta, Alouettes wide receiver Tyson Philpot of Delta, British Columbia, Toronto Argonauts wide receiver Kevin Mital of Longueuil, Quebec, Calgary Stampeders quarterback Quincy Vaughn of Brantford, Ontario and Stampeders wide receiver Jalen Philpot of Delta.

Beauchemin had a 57 yard fumble return for a touchdown on Friday in a 37-25 Alouettes win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He put the Alouettes up 17-0 at 5:59 of the second quarter. In addition to the fumble return, he had one interception for 30 yards, and six solo tackles. For the season, Beauchemin has three interceptions for 45 yards and 51 solo tackles.

Tyson Philpot had a 12 yard touchdown catch with one minute and six seconds left in the first half. At the time, the Alouettes had a commanding lead of 24-0. In the game, Tyson Philpot had six catches for 57 yards ands one touchdown. For the season, he has 108 catches for 1528 receiving yards and 12 touchdown catches. With the win, the Alouettes improved to a record of 11 wins and three losses and have the best overall record in the Canadian Football League.

Mital had a 14 yard touchdown catch from Chad Kelly in a 24-19 Argonauts win over the Edmonton Elks on Saturday. He put the Argonauts up 7-3 at 4:12 of the first quarter. In the game, Mital had four catches for 78 receiving yards. For the season, he has 68 catches for 813 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With the win, the Argonauts improved to a record of eight wins and six losses, and clinched a playoff spot.

Vaughn opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run at 9:39 of the first quarter in a 40-38 Stampeders win over the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday. Vaughn then had a second touchdown run of three yards at 9:29 of the third quarter to put the Stampeders up 24-14. In the game, Vaughn had four rushes for eight rushing yards and two touchdowns. For the season, Vaughn has 32 rushes for 60 rushing yards and 11 touchdown runs. He also has one catch for eight yards.

Jalen Philpot had a 26 yard touchdown catch from Vernon Adams Jr. with three minutes and 45 seconds left in the fourth quarter. At the time, the Stampeders went up 34-31. Jalen Philpot finished the game with nine catches for 118 receiving yards. For the season, he has 65 catches for 915 receiving yards and seven touchdown catches.

There was also a dramatic finish in the Stampeders win over the Redblacks. Stampeders kicker Rene Paredes kicked a 62 yard field goal on the final play of the game. It was the third longest field goal in CFL history. Paul McCallum kicked a 63 yard field goal in a 12-3 Saskatchewan Roughriders win over the Edmonton Eskimos on October 27, 2001. Sergio Castillo kicked a 63 yard field goal in a 28-27 Winnipeg Blue Bombers loss to the Stampeders on August 9, 2025.
