
The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded left winger Michael Bunting of Scarborough, Ontario to the Nashville Predators on Wednesday according to Brian La Rose of Pro Hockey Rumors on Wednesday. In addition to Bunting, the Predators receive a fourth round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. The Penguins receive defenseman Luke Schenn of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and center Thomas Novak.
Bunting is joining his fifth National Hockey League franchise. He previously played with the Arizona Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes and Penguins. In 58 games with Pittsburgh, Bunting has 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points. He is a -18 with 48 penalty minutes, 15 power-play points, one game-winning goal, 110 shots on goal, five faceoff wins, 13 blocked shots, 59 hits, 10 takeaways, and 38 giveaways. Bunting’s game-winning goal came at 5:34 of the third period on the power-play to break a 2-2 tie in a 5-2 Penguins over the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 7.
Schenn is joining his 10th NHL franchise. He has previously played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings. Arizona Coyotes, Anaheim Ducks Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning. and Predators, and won two Stanley Cups with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021. This season in Nashville, he has one goal and for four five points, is a -9 with 41 penalty minutes, 66 shots on goal, 76 blocked shots, 228 hits, 13 takeaways and 48 giveaways. Novak has 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points with the Predators.
