Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Tristan Thompson traded before the NBA trade deadline

A pair Canadians were traded in the National Basketball Association on Tuesday, only two days before the NBA trade deadline. According to Andrew Lopez of ESPN, the New Orleans Pelicans traded Nickeil Alexander-Walker of Toronto, Ontario to the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Sacramento Kings traded Tristan Thompson of Toronto, Ontario to the Indiana Pacers.

Alexander-Walker was traded from New Orleans to Portland with power forward Josh Hart, guard Tomas Satoransky and small forward Didi Louzada, and three draft picks for shooting guard CJ McCollum, power forward Larry Nance Jr. and shooting guard Tony Snell. Thompson was traded from Sacramento to Indiana with guard Tyrese Haliburton and shooting guard Buddy Hield for center Domantas Sabonis, and swingmen Jeremy Lamb and Justin Holiday of Mission Hills, California, along with a second round pick in 2027.

So far in 2021-22, Alexander-Walker is averaging 12.8 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, 2.8 assists per game, a field goal percentage of .375, a three-point percentage of .311, and a free throw percentage of .722. Thompson meanwhile is joining his fourth NBA team after previously being with the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers, in addition to the Kings. In 2016, Thompson was part of the Cavaliers team that won the NBA Finals over the Golden State Warriors.
