
Nic Demski of Winnipeg, Manitoba led the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to a Labour Day Weekend win on Sunday. The eight-year Canadian Football League slotback (three seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and five seasons with the Blue Bombers) had six catches for 79 yards and one touchdown as the Blue Bombers beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 20-18.
Demski’s touchdown catch was for 50 yards and put the Blue Bombers on the scoreboard. At the time, they trailed the Roughriders 14-6 with four minutes and six seconds into the second quarter.
On the season, Demski now has 36 catches for 412 yards and four touchdowns. For his career he now has 256 catches for 2888 yards and 17 touchdowns.
With the win, the Blue Bombers improve to a record of 11 wins and one loss. They have a six-point lead over the British Columbia Lions for first place in the CFL West Division.
Meanwhile, there was a trade involving two Canadian offensive linemen on Friday. The Edmonton Elks traded David Beard of Edmonton, Alberta to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for Jesse Gibbon of Hamilton, Ontario. In addition to Beard, the Tiger-Cats will get a conditional fourth round draft pick in the 2023 CFL Draft. In addition to Gibbon, the Elks get a second round pick in the 2023 CFL Draft.
