Team Canada wins third gold medal in 2022 of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series

Team Canada won their third gold medal on Saturday in the 2022 FIBA 3X3 Women’s Series. In Montreal, Canada went undefeated with a perfect record of five wins and zero losses. In the gold medal game, Canada beat the French U-24 squad 19-18. The Canadian team comprised of Katherine and Michelle Plouffe of Edmonton, Alberta, Kacie Bosch of Lethbridge, Alberta, and Paige Crozon of Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Katherine Plouffe led Canada with 12 points and eight rebounds.

In addition to beating the French U-24 team, Canada beat Hungary 21-11, and the Netherlands 16-8 in Pool A. In the quarterfinals, Canada beat France 20-13, and in the semifinals, Canada beat Germany 21-8. Spain won the bronze medal.

This was Canada’s second gold medal this summer in Canada. On July 30 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada beat the United States 21-17. Michelle Plouffe led Canada with 13 points and Katherine Plouffe led Canada with nine rebounds. Just like the Montreal series, Canada went undefeated with a record of five wins and zero losses. They defeated Romania 22-8, France 20-17, and a second American team 21-16 in Pool B action, and the second American team again 21-20 in the semifinals.

Canada also won the gold medal this summer in the FIBA 3X3 Women’s Series in Bucharest, Romania on August 10. Canada won all five of their contests in Romania as well. In Pool B action, Canada defeated Italy 19-17 and Israel 22-17, before beating a second team from Germany 21-5 in the quarterfinals, France 19-10 in the semifinals, and Italy 21-10 in the gold medal game. Michelle Plouffe led Canada with eight points and six rebounds. The top German team won the bronze medal.

Team Canada won a fourth medal in the 2022 FIBA 3X3 Women’s Series. That occurred on August 27, in Eaubonne, France. Canada had a record of three wins and one loss. The Canadian wins came over Mongolia 22-10 and the French U-24 team 18-15 in Pool A action, and France 18-16 in overtime in the semifinals. Canada finished in third place after losing to Germany 19-18 in semifinals. The French U-24 team beat Germany 21-16 in the gold medal game.
