Mikael Kingsbury wins World Cup moguls silver in France

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec won the silver medal at a World Cup Men’s moguls event in Alpe d’Huez, France on Friday. For Kingsbury, it was his fourth World Cup medal of the season, and the 108th medal of his career. This season Kingsbury has two gold medals and two silver medals. In his career, Kingsbury now has 76 gold medals, 26 silver medals, and six bronze medals.

Kingsbury, who won the gold medal in men’s moguls at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, posted a score on Friday of 80.85 points. Ikuma Horishima of Japan won the gold medal with a score of 82.66 points. Cole McDonald of the United States won the bronze medal with a score of 75.17 points. Kingsbury earned a medal by 5.81 points over Benjamin Cavet of France, who had 75.04 points.

In the World Cup men’s moguls standings, Kingsbury leads with 260 points. He has 30 more points than Horishima, who is second with 230 points. The silver medal will give Kingsbury confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. In the other World Cup events this past weekend, Horishima also won in men’s dual moguls, Jakara Anthony of Australia won in women’s moguls, and Anri Kawamura of Japan won in women’s dual moguls.
