According to TSN, Marc Eversley of Brampton, Ontario became the third Canadian general manager in National Basketball Association history on Monday. Eversley was named the 11th general manager in the history of the Chicago Bulls.

Eversley had recently been the senior vice president of player personnel of the Philadelphia 76ers. He has also spent a decade working in the front office with the Toronto Raptors (seven years) and the Washington Wizards (three years).

The other two Canadian general managers in the NBA were both from Vancouver, British Columbia. Pete Newell was the general manager of the San Diego Rockets from 1968 to 1971, and the Los Angeles Lakers from 1972 to 1976. Bob Houbregs was the general manager of the Seattle Supersonics from 1970 to 1973.

In addition to Eversley, the Bulls hired Arturas Karinsovas of Klaipeda, Lithuania earlier this month. Karinsovas had been the general manager of the Denver Nuggets since June 15, 2017. The fact that Karinsovas is now with the Bulls could be considered as a surprise to some because of the positive impact he has had in Denver and because he signed an extension with Denver on February 15, 2019.

There is no doubt that the Bulls are in rebuilding mode. They are currently at 22 wins and 43 losses. The days of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen seem a long time ago, however, the Bulls have been prominent in recent weeks due to Netflix. Zach LaVine currently leads the Bulls in scoring. He has been averaging 25.5 points per game in 60 games this season.
