It was a memorable Monday for Kerry Galusha’s Yellowknife team at the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. In a 14-8 win over Yukon, Galusha set a Northwest Territories record for most points in one game according to Vic Rauter of TSN.
The 14 points by Galusha was one point off the Scotties record of 15 points, which was set by Alberta’s Deb Shermack in a 15-6 win over Nova Scotia in 1989, Manitoba’s Chelsea Carey in a 15-3 win over Quebec in 2014, Prince Edward Island’s Suzanne Birt in a 15-5 win over the Northwest Territories in 2019, and Wildcard’s Mackenzie Zacharias in a 15-3 win over Yukon in 2021.
This was Galusha’s first win of the 2025 Scotties and it was memorable for another reason. That is because Kerry Galusha’s daughter Sydney, who is the Northwest Territories second, is the youngest curler to ever to win a Scotties game at 15 years, six months and 29 days. In the Northwest Territories win, they scored five points in the fourth end, three points in the seventh end, and four points in the ninth end.
Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario leads Pool A with a record of four wins and zero losses after beating Saskatchewan 9-6 on Monday. There is a three-way tie for first in Pool B. There you can find Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec at three wins and one loss.
One notable upset came on Monday afternoon. That is when Kerri Einarson of Manitoba lost her first game by a score of 9-6 to Quebec’s Laurie St-Georges.
