Jordan Binnington of Richmond Hill, Ontario registered his seventh career National Hockey League shutout on Tuesday. Binnington made 17 saves as the St. Louis Blues beat the New Jersey Devils 3-0 at the Enterprise Centre in St. Louis, Missouri.
Binnington was not very busy throughout the night. He only needed to make six saves in the first period, five saves in the second period and six saves in the third period. Wayne Simmonds of Scarborough, Ontario led the Devils with three shots on goal.
Offensively for the Blues on Tuesday, they got two goals from Ivan Barbashev. The Blues other goal came from Jaden Schwartz of Melfort, Saskatchewan.
In 2019-20, Binnington has a record of 25 wins, 11 regulation losses and seven losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 2.66 and a save percentage of .910. Binnington’s other shutout this season came on November 21, in a 5-0 Blues win over the Calgary Flames.
With the win, the Blues improved to a record of 33 wins, 17 losses and 10 losses in extra time for 76 points. St. Louis currently has the best record in the Western Conference, as they have two more points than the surging Dallas Stars.
St. Louis also has the fifth best record in the NHL. They trail the Boston Bruins (86 points), Tampa Bay Lightning (85 points), Pittsburgh Penguins (80 points) and Washington Capitals (79 points).
