It was simply a perfect week at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Olympic Curling Trials for Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta and Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. They won all 10 of their matches this past week at the Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, and in the process will represent Canada at the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick. A top six finish at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship will guarantee Peterman and Gallant a spot at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
Peterman and Gallant defeated Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario and Brendan Bottcher of Edmonton, Alberta 8-7 in the final on Saturday. It was a tough start for Homan as she missed her shots in the first two ends. In the first end, Peterman and Gallant scored three points, and in the second end, Peterman and Gallant stole one point when Homan racked off a guard. Then in the sixth end, Bottcher and Homan were in line for a huge end on the power play after Gallant flashed, but Peterman made an outstanding double takeout to limit the damage to two points. Homan and Bottcher picked up the last four points in the game, but it was too little, too late.
