
Corrine Schroeder of Elm Creek, Manitoba collected her second career Professional Women’s Hockey League shutout on Saturday. She accomplished the feat in a 5-0 New York Sirens win over the Minnesota Frost at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Schroeder made 26 saves for the shutout. She made 11 saves in the first period, 10 saves in the second period, and five saves in the third period. This was the 21st game in the PWHL this season, and Schroeder recorded the first shutout.
Jessie Eldridge of Barrie, Ontario led the Sirens in scoring with three points. She had one goal and two assists. One more Canadian scored for the Sirens. Canadian Olympic gold medalist and 2024 PWHL first overall pick Sarah Fillier of Georgetown, Ontario put New York up 2-0 on the power play at 6:44 of the second period.
In 2024-25, Schroeder has a record of four wins and two losses with a goals against average of 2.19 and a save percentage of .924. Last season when Schroeder recorded her shutout, it was in the very first game ever played in the PWHL on January 1, 2024. New York blanked Toronto 4-0.
With the win, the Sirens improve to a record of four wins and three losses. They are in third place in the PWHL standings with 12 points. Three of New York’s four wins have been in regulation, and one of their three losses have been in extra time. Minnesota leads with 14 points, and Montreal is second with 13 points.
