Jasmine Baird of Mississauga, Ontario won the bronze medal on Saturday in a World Cup women’s snowboarding event in Chur, Switzerland. For Baird it was her fifth World Cup medal of her career.

Baird placed third in the women’s big air snowboarding with 131.25 points. Reira Iwabuchi of Japan won the gold medal with 180.75 points. Anna Gasser of Austria won the silver medal with 164.75 points. Baird reached the podium by 1.5 points over Yura Murase of Japan, who had 129.75 points.

This was Baird’s second World Cup medal in women’s big air snowboarding. The first came in Chur on October 23, 2021. In this event Baird posted a score of 148.75 points. Like Saturday, a Japanese snowboarder took gold as Kokomo Murase placed first. Kokomo Murase is the older sister of Yura Murase, and ironically both snowboarders were in contention this past weekend, as Kokomo Murase was fifth.

Baird’s other three World Cup results came in slopestyle snowboarding. She won a bronze medal in Seiser Alm, Italy on January 26, 2019, a silver medal in Bakuriani, Georgia, on March 6, and a silver medal in Spinderluv Mlyn, Czech Republic on March 19.

This was the first of four World Cup women’s big air snowboarding events this season. The next one is in Edmonton, Alberta on December 10.
