
James Reimer of Morweena, Manitoba picked up his 26th National Hockey League shutout on Sunday. He made 30 saves as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0.
Reimer made nine saves in the first period, five saves in the second period, and 16 saves in the third period. Nicholas Deslauriers of La Salle, Quebec and Ivan Provorov led the Flyers with four shots on goal each.
Steven Lorentz of Kitchener, Ontario scored one of the three Sharks goals in the contest. For Lorentz, it was his first goal with the Sharks as his other 10 NHL regular season goals have been with the Carolina Hurricanes. The other Sharks goal scorers were Erik Karlsson and Nico Sturm. The only other Canadian to register a point for the Sharks was Logan Couture of Guelph, Ontario, who had the primary assist on an empty net goal by Sturm with three minutes and 54 seconds left in the third period.
So far this season, Reimer has a record of two wins and three losses with a goals against average of 2.22 and a save percentage of .933. Of Reimer’s 26 shutouts, 11 have been with the Toronto Maple Leafs, seven with the Florida Panthers, three with the Carolina Hurricanes and now five with the Sharks.
