Jake Allen of Fredericton, New Brunswick notched his 24th National Hockey League shutout on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat by making 22 saves in a 4-0 Montreal Canadiens win over the Chicago Blackhawks at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

Allen made six saves in the first period, seven saves in the second period, and nine saves in the third period. Jake McCabe led the Blackhawks with four shots on goal.

Jonathan Drouin of Ste-Agathe, Quebec led the Canadiens in scoring with three assists. The Canadiens goal scorers were Justin Barron of Halifax, Nova Scotia, David Savard of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, Joel Armia, and Christian Dvorak.

On the season, Allen now has a record of 12 wins, 17 regulation losses, and two losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 3.42 and a save percentage of .895. Of his 24 NHL career shutouts, 21 have been with the St. Louis Blues and three have been with the Montreal Canadiens.

The Canadiens have now won three straight games. During the streak, they also beat the New York Islanders 4-3 on Saturday (thanks to an overtime winner by defenseman Mike Matheson of Pointe-Claire, Quebec) and then a convincing 6-2 upset win over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. Despite the recent success, Montreal is last in the Atlantic Division.
