Connor Ingram records first NHL career shutout

Connor Ingram of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded his first National Hockey League career shutout on Wednesday as the Arizona Coyotes upset the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0 in a shootout. In the process, he made 47 saves.

Ingram made 20 saves in the first period, 17 saves in the second period, five saves in the third period, and five saves in overtime. He then gave up a goal in the shootout to Steven Stamkos of Markham. Ontario, but the Coyotes prevailed 2-1 in shootout action. Stamkos and Vladislav Namestnikov led the Lightning with five shots on goal each. Even though he is recorded with a loss, Brian Elliott of Newmarket, Ontario did still have a shutout for Tampa Bay.

This is Ingram’s first season with the Coyotes. Last year he played with the Nashville Predators, and was claimed off waivers by the Coyotes on October 10 to start the season. In 18 games in 2022-23, Ingram has a record of four wins, 11 losses, and three losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 3.38 and a save percentage of .907. Ingram’s three prior wins this season came in a 6-3 Arizona win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 25, in a 6-3 Arizona win over the Colorado Avalanche on December 27, and in a 4-3 Arizona win over the Detroit Red Wings on January 17.
