Canadian Freddie Freeman has been named the winner of the 2024 World Series Most Valuable Player award. On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees 7-6 in game five of the series to win the best out of seven series four games to one at Yankee Stadium in New York City, New York.
In five games against the New York Yankees, Freeman batted .300 with four home runs and 12 runs batted in. He scored five runs, and had six hits, one triple, two walks, 20 total bases, an on base percentage of .364, and a slugging percentage of 1.000.
In the five game series, Freeman became the first player ever to hit a home run in the first four games of the World Series, and the first player ever to hit a walk off grand slam in the World Series. That is what he accomplished on Friday in game one, a 7-6 Dodgers win over the Yankees at Dodger Stadium in southern California.
This was Freeman’s second World Series title. He previously won with the Atlanta Braves in 2021. The eight time All-Star has won one other major award in his career. In 2020, Freeman won the National League most valuable player award with the Braves.
