The Toronto Argonauts set a franchise record on Saturday with the most points in a single playoff game. They accomplished the feat in a 58-38 win over the Ottawa Redblacks in the 2024 Canadian Football League East Division Semifinal. The previous franchise record was 47 points in a 47-23 Argonauts win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 1997 Grey Cup at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Argonauts’s 58 points are the third most number of points in a playoff game. The CFL record for the most points in a playoff game belongs to the Edmonton Eskimos, who scored 68 points in a 68-7 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 1996 CFL West Division semifinal. The team with the second most number of playoff points in one game are the Blue Bombers, who beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 59-11 in the 1992 Eastern Division Final.

The 96 total points in the Eastern Division Semi-Final also tied a record for most points in a playoff game. The only other time 96 points were scored came in the 2011 East Division Semi-Final, when the Tiger-Cats beat the Montreal Alouettes 52-44.

In the Argonauts’s win on Sunday, Argonauts quarterback Chad Kelly completed 18 of 20 passes for 358 passing yards and four touchdowns. Argonauts wide receiver had four catches for 158 receiving yards and a touchdown. Toronto will next play Montreal in the East Final.

In the West, the Saskatchewan Roughriders beat the British Columbia Lions 28-19 in the semi-final. They next play the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Final.
