
There was an intriguing trade in the National Hockey League on Thursday. According to Wes Gilbertson of The Calgary Herald, the Philadelphia Flyers traded center Morgan Frost of Aurora, Ontario and left winger Joel Farabee to the Calgary Flames for forward Andrei Kuzmenko, left winger Jakob Pelletier of Quebec City, Quebec, a second round pick in 2025 and a seventh round pick in 2028.
Frost is joining his second NHL team after six seasons with the Flyers. In 2024-25, he has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in 49 games. Frost is a -11 with 16 penalty minutes, seven power-play points, two game-winning goals, 86 shots on goal, 306 faceoff wins, 39 blocked shots, 35 hits, 19 takeaways, and 37 giveaways. Frost’s first game-winning goal of the season came in a 3-1 Flyers win over the Anaheim Ducks on December 28. Frost put the Flyers up 2-1 from Scott Laughton of Oakville, Ontario at 5:57 of the third period. Frost’s second game-winning goal of the season came in a 6-0 Flyers win over the Ducks on January 11. Frost opened the scoring with an all-Canadian goal at 6:48 of the first period. Travis Konecny of London, Ontario and Owen Tippett of Peterborough, Ontario had the assists.
Pelletier is joining his third NHL team after three seasons with the Flames. In 2024-25, he has four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 24 games. Pelletier is a +10 with six penalty minutes, one game-winning goal, 30 shots on goal, five faceoff wins, 14 blocked shots, 23 hits, six takeaways, and 15 giveaways. Pelletier’s game-winning goal came in a 5-2 Flames win over the Buffalo Sabres on January 23. Pelletier scored from defenseman Brayden Pachal of Estevan, Saskatchewan and Nazem Kadri of London, Ontario on an all-Canadian goal at 3:29 of the third period to break a 2-2 tie.
Farabee has eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 50 games. Kuzmenko has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points in 37 games. The Flames are eighth in the Western Conference with 57 points and the Flyers are five points back of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 52 points.
