Evan McEachran wins slopestyle skiing World Cup silver in Switzerland

Evan McEachran of Oakville, Ontario won a World Cup silver medal in men’s slopestyle skiing in Silvaplana, Switzerland on Saturday. For McEachran it was his fifth career World Cup medal.

McEachran had a score of 93 points for his first World Cup medal of the season. Jesper Tjader of Sweden won the gold medal with 94.25 points. Birk Ruud of Norway won the bronze medal with 92.5 points. McEachran reached the podium by one point over Luca Harrington of New Zealand, who finished in fourth place with 92 points.

This was the final World Cup men’s slopestyle skiing event of the season. Ruud was the World Cup champion with 360 points. McEachran finished in sixth place with 159 points.

Four of McEachran’s World Cup medals have come in slopestyle skiing. He also won a silver medal in Stubai, Austria on November 26, 2017, a bronze medal in Mammoth Mountain, California on January 21, 2018, and a bronze medal in Mammoth Mountain again on January 9, 2022.

McEachran’s other World Cup medal came in men’s big air skiing. That was a silver medal in Cardrona, New Zealand on September 7, 2018. Noah Porter MacLennan of Ottawa, Ontario finished in third place in the 2022-23 World Cup men’s big air skiing standings with 96 points. The silver medal for McEachran will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
