Eric Comrie records third career NHL shutout

Eric Comrie of Edmonton, Alberta recorded his third career National Hockey League shutout on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Winnipeg Jets win over the Carolina Hurricanes at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Comrie made 29 saves overall. He made eight saves in the first period, 12 saves in the second period, and nine saves in the third period. Jordan Staal of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Taylor Hall of Calgary, Alberta, Dmitry Orlov and Jaccob Slavin led the Hurricanes with three shots on goal each.

Offensively, the Jets got goals from Rasmus Kupari, Neal Pionk and Nino Niederreiter. The lone Canadian who had an assist was Cole Perfetti of Whitby, Ontario.

This season Comrie has a record of five wins, seven regulation losses, and one loss in extra time. He has one shutout, a goals against average of 2.58 and a save percentage of .912.

Comrie’s first NHL shutout came on April 27, 2022 in a 4-0 Jets win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Comrie’s second NHL shutout came on March 25, 2023 in a 2-0 Buffalo Sabres win over the New York Islanders.

The Jets are one of two teams in the NHL at the moment with seven game winning streaks. The other is the Detroit Red Wings. With the win, the Jets have the most points in the NHL. With 79, they have two more points than the Washington Capitals.
