Andrew Wiggins traded from Warriors to Heat

There was another blockbuster trade in the National Basketball Association on Wednesday. In this deal, a Canadian was involved. In a four-way trade involving the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Utah Jazz, and Detroit Pistons, forward Andrew Wiggins of Toronto, Ontario was traded from the Warriors to the Heat. Other players involved in the deal were Jimmy Butler (Miami to Golden State), Kyle Anderson (Golden State to Miami), power forward and former Toronto Raptor P.J. Tucker (Utah to Miami), point guard and former Raptor Dennis Schroder (Golden State to Utah), shooting guard Lindy Waters III (Golden State to Detroit), and shooting guard Josh Richardson (Miami to Detroit) according to Sam Quinn  of CBS Sports.

Wiggins is joining his third NBA team following six seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves (2014-2020), and six seasons with the Warriors (2020 to 2025). This past season in Golden State, Wiggins averaged 17.6 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 2.3 assists per game. He had a field goal percentage of .444, three point percentage of .379, and a free throw percentage of .777.

Wiggins’s other notable accolades include being the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Timberwolves, being the NBA Rookie of the Year with Minnesota in 2014-15, being a NBA All-Star with the Warriors in 2021-22, and winning the 2022 NBA Finals with Golden State. The Warriors beat the Boston Celtics in six games.
