
Darcy Kuemper of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded his 35th career National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 1-0 Los Angeles Kings overtime win over the Nashville Predators at crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
Kuemper made 24 saves for the shutout. He had seven saves in the first period, seven saves in the second period, nine saves in the third period and one save in overtime. Michael McCarron led the Predators with five shots on goal.
Kings centre Quiton Byfield of Newmarket, Ontario scored the only goal. It came at 3:20 of overtime from defenseman Brandt Clarke of Nepean, Ontario and Adrian Kempe.
In 2024-25, Kuemper had a record of 22 wins, eight regulation losses and seven losses in extra time. He has four shutouts, a goals against average of 2.16 and a save percentage of .918. Of Kuemper’s 35 shutouts, 10 have been with the Arizona Coyotes, seven each have been with the Minnesota Wild and the Los Angeles Kings, six have been with the Washington Capitals, and five have been with the Colorado Avalanche.
With the win, the Kings improve to a record of 36 wins, 20 regulation losses and nine losses in extra time for 81 points. They are in second place in the Pacific Division.
