Jets centre Mark Scheifele named NHL first star of the week

Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele of Kitchener, Ontario has been named the National Hockey League first star of the week for the week from December 23 to 29, 2024. In two games, he had four goals and two assists for six points. Scheifele was also a +5 with one game-winning goal, six shots on goal, one hit, one blocked shot, and seven faceoff wins.

Scheifele began the week with three goals and one assist for four points in a 5-2 Jets win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 23. In the process, he recorded his 10th career hat trick and scored the game-winning goal. The game-winner came from from Gabriel Vilardi of Kingston, Ontario and Kyle Connor at 3:27 of the third period to put the Jets up 3-1 at the time. Scheifele then had one goal and one assist for two points in a 4-2 Jets win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

In 2024-25, Scheifele has 22 goals and 22 assists for 44 points in 38 games. He is a +6 with 23 penalty minutes, 14 power-play points, six game-winning goals, 88 shots on goal, 280 faceoff wins, 32 blocked shots, 33 hits, 14 takeaways and 50 giveaways.
