Canada is in the final of the 2022 World Men’s Curling Championship from Las Vegas, Nevada. On Saturday, Canada defeated the United States 8-5 in one of two semifinals.

It was a much better game for Team Canada in the semifinal than it was in the round robin game against the United States on Thursday, which the Americans won 10-6. In the round robin game, the Americans had a 6-2 lead at the midway point when they scored four runs in the fifth end.

For Canada to beat Sweden on Sunday in the gold medal game, they need to get off to a better start. On Saturday, Canadian third Mark Nichols struggled in the early going, as he flashed with one shot attempt, and hit and rolled out with his other attempt in the first end. Nichols was able to regroup and curl a respectable 75%.

The other semifinal saw Sweden beat Italy 8-4. The major reason why the Swedes were victorious was because of a masterful shot by Olympic gold medalist Niklas Edin in the fifth end, who was able to run off a guard and knock out an Italian stone in the four-foot.

This is the third time that Edin and Gushue will have faced each other for World Championship gold. Gushue was victorious in 2017 in Edmonton, and Edin was victorious in 2018 in Las Vegas.
