Normally, I do not discuss a Canadian golfer’s performance in the final round of a golf tournament on canadiansportscene.com unless they won. However, what we saw from Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario on Sunday was simply fabulous at the Evian Masters in France.

Henderson began her day seven strokes back of Hae-ran Ryu of Geumjeong-myeon, South Korea. Ryu was at -19, and Henderson was at -12. Then in the fourth round, Henderson had a round for the ages. She shot a score of seven-under-par 64 to force a playoff, only to lose to Ryu. In the playoff, Ryu recorded a score of birdie, while Henderson was unable to record a birdie on the playoff hole.

What was miraculous about Henderson’s tournament was the fact she recorded three eagles in the final round on Sunday. She eagled the par-five seventh hole and par-five 18th hole, and dazzled the crowd with a hole-in-one on the par-three eighth hole. According to Beth Ann Nicols of Golfweek, Henderson is only the second player ever to have three eagles in the final round of a LPGA tournament. The other is Jane Park of Chicago, Illinois, who accomplished the feat at the 2017 Women’s British Open.

In all, Henderson had six eagles as she also eagled the ninth hole in round one, and the seventh and 15th holes in round three. That is a record for the most eagles at a LPGA major according to Nicols.
