Blackhawks trade Taylor Hall to Hurricanes

There was a blockbuster trade made between the three American teams in the National Hockey League that begin with the letter C on Friday. In the deal that involved the Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes and Colorado Avalanche, Taylor Hall of Calgary, Alberta was traded from Chicago to Carolina. We also saw Mikko Rantanen go from Colorado to Carolina, Martin Necas and Jack Drury go from Carolina to Colorado, two draft picks go from Carolina to Colorado and one draft pick go from Carolina to Chicago.

The lone Canadian in the trade is Hall, who is joining his seventh NHL team. He was previously with the Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins, Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, New Jersey Devils.

In 2024-25, Hall has nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 46 games. He was also a -15 with 16 penalty minutes, three power play points, one game-winning goal, 82 shots on goal, 32 faceoff wins, 29 blocked shots, 23 hits, 25 takeaways, and 40 giveaways. The game-winning goal came on December 9 in a 2-1 Blackhawks win over the New York Rangers. Hall scored from Connor Bedard of North Vancouver, British Columbia and Jason Dickinson of Georgetown, Ontario on an all-Canadian goal at 6:16 of the second period, which broke a 1-1 tie at the time.
