Andrew Mangiapane records first career NHL hat trick

Andrew Mangiapane of Toronto, Ontario recorded his first National Hockey League career hat trick on Monday. Mangiapane notched three goals and one assist for four points as the Calgary Flames defeated the Anaheim Ducks 6-4 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.

Mangiapane scored Calgary’s first goal at 6:46 of the second period. At the time the game was tied at one goal apiece. Mangiapane scored from Noah Hanifin and Matthew Tkachuk. At 4:46 of the third period, Mangiapane tied the game at two goals apiece with an unassisted marker. Then with 57 seconds left in the game, Mangiapane put the Flames up 6-3 with an empty net goal from Johnny Gaudreau.

In 2019-20, Mangiapane has 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points in 59 games. He has 16 penalty minutes, one game winning goal, one power play point, 86 shots on goal, eight faceoff wins, 22 blocked shots, 60 hits, 35 takeaways and 28 giveaways. As the regular season has progressed, Mangiapane has seen regular playing time among the Flames top six forwards.

The Flames are currently in fourth place in the Pacific Division. With a record of 31 wins, 24 regulation losses, and six losses in extra time, they have 68 points. They currently have a three point lead on the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
