Edmonton Oilers left winger Zach Hyman of Toronto, Ontario collected his first career National Hockey League hat trick on Tuesday. He scored three goals as the Oilers defeated the Nashville Predators 6-3 at the Bidgestone Arena in Nashville.
Hyman scored his first goal of the game at 8:19 of the first period to tie the game at one. In an all-Canadian goal, Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ontario, and Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario picked up the assists. Hyman then put the Oilers up 2-1 on a goal from McDavid and Leon Draisaitl at 14:50 of the first period. Then in the third period, Hyman closed out the scoring on a goal from Cody Ceci of Ottawa, Ontario and Draisaitl.
Hyman had a four-point game, as he added an assist on the game-winning goal by Draisaitl at 4:19 of the second period. Hyman was one of three Canadian Oilers on Tuesday with a multi-point game. The others were McDavid (one goal and three assists for four points), and Tyson Barrie of Victoria, British Columbia (two assists).
On the season, Hyman now has 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 29 games. He is a +7 with 10 penalty minutes, nine power-play points, one game-winning goal, 112 shots on goal, three faceoff wins, nine blocked shots, 35 hits, 17 takeaways, and eight giveaways.
With the win, the Oilers improve to a record of 17 wins and 13 regulation losses. Their 34 points are sixth most in the Western Conference.
