
Canadian Olympic gold medalist Erin Ambrose of Keswick, Ontario has been named the Professional Women’s Hockey League first star of the week on Tuesday. Ambrose, a defenseman for Montreal Victoire, was honoured for the week from January 13-19, 2025. In two games, Ambrose had five assists for five points.
Ambrose, who won a gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, had three assists on January 17 in a 4-2 Montreal win over the Minnesota Frost. She then had two assists in a 2-1 Montreal win over the Ottawa Charge on January 19. Ambrose assisted on two goals by Abby Boreen, and one goal by Canadian Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin of Beauceville, Quebec in the win over the Frost, and then on goals by Catherine Dubois of Quebec City, Quebec and Kati Tabin of Winnipeg, Manitoba in the win over the Charge. The gold medals Poulin won at the Olympic Winter Games were at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
In 2024-25, Ambrose has eight assists for eight points in 11 games. She is a +7 with two penalty minutes, three faceoff wins, and 19 shots on goal. The Victoire lead the PWHL standings with 23 points. They have three more points than the Frost.
