
Week three is now complete for the 2026 Canadian Football League regular season and three Canadians recorded a touchdown for a winning team. They were Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Kiondre Smith of Scarborough, Ontario, Tiger-Cats wide receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr. of Ottawa, Ontario, and Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker of Mississauga, Ontario.
Smith had a 56 yard touchdown catch from quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell on Friday to open the scoring at the 59 second mark of the first quarter in a 41-27 Tiger-Cats win over the British Columbia Lions at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario. He finished the game with two catches for 72 receiving yards.
Gittens Jr. had a 23 yard touchdown pass from Mitchell at the 21 second mark of the fourth quarter. At the time, the Tiger-Cats went up 41-12. Gittens Jr. finished the game with four catches for 43 receiving yards. With the win, the Tiger-Cats improved to a record of two wins and one loss, and are in a first place tie in the East Division with the Montreal Alouettes.
Schaffer-Baker had two touchdown catches on Saturday in a 40-37 Saskatchewan Roughriders overtime win over the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium. His first touchdown catch was 53 yards from quarterback Trevor Harris at 10:12 of the second quarter. At the time, the Roughriders went up 17-7. Schaffer-Baker’s second touchdown catch was four yards from Harris with 13 seconds left in the second quarter. At the time, the Roughriders went up 23-7. Schaffer-Baker finished the game with eight catches for 130 receiving yards. With the win, the Roughriders improved to a record of two wins and zero losses.
For the season, Smith has 13 catches for 239 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Gittens Jr. has 12 catches for 110 receiving yards and one touchdown, and Schaffer-Baker has 19 catches for 295 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.
