Taylor Hall records first career NHL Stanley Cup Playoff overtime winner

Carolina Hurricanes left winger Taylor Hall of Calgary, Alberta recorded his first Stanley Cup Playoff overtime winner on Monday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-2 Hurricanes win over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. With the win, the Hurricanes took a two games to zero series lead over the Flyers in the Eastern Conference semifinal best out of seven series.

Hall’s game-winning goal came with one minute and six seconds left in the first overtime period. He scored on the rebound while driving to the front of the net. Defenseman Sean Walker of Keswick, Ontario did a great job in moving the puck into the zone, and picked up a secondary assist. Jackson Blake had the primary assist.

Hall was one of two Canadians to score for the Hurricanes. The other was Seth Jarvis of Winnipeg, Manitoba, who tied the game at two goals apiece at 11:21 of the third period.

In the playoffs, Hall has been very productive for Carolina. In six games, he has three goals and six assists for nine points. He is a +8 with eight penalty minutes, one game-winning goal, two power-play points, 17 shots on goal, two faceoff wins, three  blocked shots, eight hits, one takeaway, and three giveaways.
