Stuart Skinner of Edmonton, Alberta recorded his sixth National Hockey League career shutout on Monday. He accomplished the feat in a 1-0 Edmonton Oilers win over the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

Skinner made 30 saves overall. He made six saves in the first period, 11 saves in the second period, and 13 saves in the third period. Adrian Kempe led the Kings with six shots on goal.

Oilers captain Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario scored Edmonton’s only goal and it happened to come on his 28th birthday. He scored on the rebound with one minute and 23 seconds left in the second period. Darnell Nurse of Hamilton, Ontario and Leon Draisaitl had the assists.

So far in 2024-25, Skinner has a record of 17 wins, nine regulation losses, and three losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 2.68 and a save percentage of .902. Skinner’s other shutout this season came on October 25, in a 4-0 Oilers win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Oilers are currently in second place in the Pacific Division with the win. They have 57 points and are four points back of the Vegas Golden Knights with 61 points. Edmonton now has an interesting three game road trip this week. They play Minnesota on Wednesday, Colorado on Thursday and Vancouver on Saturday.
