
Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba has won the 2025 Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii. The 36-year-old posted a four round score of -16. Taylor ended up beating Nicholas Echavarria of Colombia in the second hole of a playoff.
Taylor had a first round score of four under par 66, second round score of two under par 68, and then back-to-back rounds of five under par 65. In the playoff, Taylor birdied the 18th hole twice. Echavarria birdied the 18th hole once in a playoff, and did not have a score under par in the second playoff hole.
In the final round, Taylor had one eagle, five birdies and one bogey. He birdied the second, eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th holes, bogeyed the seventh hole and eagled the 18th hole.
Seven other golfers were in contention. American J.J. Spaun and Germany’s Stephan Jaeger were tied for third place at -15. Eric Cole was alone in fifth place at -14. Americans Adam Schenk, Jackson Suber, Keegan Bradley and Patrick Fishburn were tied for sixth place at -13.
This was Taylor’s fifth victory on the PGA Tour. He previously won the 2014 Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi, the 2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the 2023 RBC Canadian Open in Toronto, and the 2024 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
